Basics

Not a TRUE vale, as flow can go backwards if given enough time/pressure/flow rate, but it is significantly more difficult, and takes longer to "start' than the chosen direction
Has no seals or moving parts however
Thus allows near maitnence free check valves, unique pulse jets, and it's most common adaptation Labyrinth Seals
One emerging application is in Microfluidics
