Basics

  • A Reaction of carbon monoxide and water to produce hydrogen gas and carbon dyoxide
  • Traditionally this is done by a process where steam is pushed over a bed of carbon coals (traditiannly hot coke, but should be able to be done with charcoal)
    • The product of this was called "water gas" and was often made in Gasworks
  • May be an easier/more efficent way to produce hydrogen from heat sources than using the heat to make electricity and then Electrolysis
