Basics
- In order to reduce Redundancy Waste , before designing custom Open Source Software or Open Source Hardware , one should look and see what existing designs exist
- Enough people are on this planet, that for many things the same problems, and thus same solutions are developed
- Not to say that one shouldn't do something if no one has done it before, but spending a month doing a project someone else has done in a near identical manner without knowing so from the beginning is not only disheartening, it is also wasteful
- Innovation and Collaboration use that work to speed up development / gain different perspectives and are the way to go
- Thus this should be a part of all design processes
