Basics
- Often Abbreviated as HTL
- Similar to pyrolysis, but done with wet biomass (like algae), using moderate temperature (250-550 C) and high pressure (5-25 MPa), for 20–60 minutes
- Can also use catalysts to vary conditions/time needed and/or end product composition
- Produces Biocrude (A liquid similar in properties and composition to crude oil) (Granted the properties and composition will very; there is no standard biocrude)
