So i watched the video, for the most part this would be a mix of a [[Solar Still]] and a [[Multi-Effect Evaporator]]
There has been some novel work in Solar Still Design recently (mainly in trying to make a better [[Solar Thermal Absorber Materials]] )
The benefits of that system, vs a more conventional [[Solar Thermal Concentrator]] + [[Heat Transfer Fluid]] + [[Multi-Effect Evaporator]] system would have to be determined.
Some of these novel setups make sense small scale (Thus potentially Homestead / FeF Scale etc) but above that the novelty vs scalability/Off The Shelf Component aspect + Maintainability etc makes them less viable.
If i remember correctly there is an [[Open Source Linear Solar Concentrator]] that makes steam, that and a [[Skid Mounted]] Steam Fed Desalination Plant / [[Watermaker]] perhaps?
Running a [[Saltworks]] would be neat!, but other than that [[Brine Disposal]] is a bit of a pain.

Already widespread. Lab Scale/Small Scale it can be attached to a (semi-) standard Distillation Apparatus (Although ideally with a Cold Trap + other means to protect the Vacuum Pump , or via a Rotavap . Large scale it can be done in a Multiple-effect evaporator / Falling Film Evaporator or VERY large scale in a Vacuum Distillation Unit

The former is used for delicate samples/products like Pharmaceuticals, Food, and Sensitive Compounds etc

The latter is used to get Heavy Fractions out of the Residuals of a STANDARD Fractional Distillation ( Crude Oil Distillation Unit / Atmospheric Distillation Unit )
