'''Biography'''

Marcin was born in Poland. At age ten, during the martial law period of Poland, he left for America.  From early on, he wanted to apply knowledge toward a quality life for all. He graduated with Honors from Princeton University in 1995 with a degree in Chemistry and received a Ph.D. in physics, from U. Wisconsin, Madison, in the field of Fusion Energy. He found both experiences lacking in terms of practical application to addressing pressing world issues. He formulated the [[Open Source Ecology]] concept in 2003 and development of open source technology has consumed him ever since. He is presently part of a practical social experiment for creating the world's first, replicable, [http://openfarmtech.org/weblog/?p=1361 open source, post-industrial global village], with a living laboratory at Factor e Farm. His main interest is ‘evolving to freedom’, and making this option practical for anyone interested in a better world.
Marcin Jakubowski is a Polish-American physicist, technologist, and founder of Open Source Ecology. After immigrating to the U.S. from Poland as a child, he earned a degree with honors from Princeton University and completed a Ph.D. in fusion physics at the University of Wisconsin. Disillusioned by the disconnect between advanced research and real-world challenges, he launched Open Source Ecology in 2003 to make closed-loop, regenerative manufacturing accessible to all. He leads development of the Global Village Construction Set (GVCS)—a modular, open source platform of 50 industrial machines required to build a modern civilization from scratch. Marcin is a TED Senior Fellow, Shuttleworth Foundation Fellow, and was recognized by Time Magazine’s Best Inventions of 2012 and as a White House Champion of Change.
