Kibbutz Samar is an anarcho-socialist kibbutz founded in 1976, located in the Aravad desert in southern Israel.
Solar
Bryan Medwed built a couple solar concentrator systems on the kibbutz, including a 5 kW prototype and 30-meter-tall, 100 kW solar power tower. When I (Michael Altfield) visited in 2019, the solar power tower was not in operation; the central tower had black marks indicating that it may have been burned (perhaps run dry?) and thus ceased to operate.
