• An Open Source Hardware Group
• They are making all the tech + software needed (in their plan/view/opinion at least) torun initially a small science outpost, to a 1,000,000 person city/empire on Mars
• AMBITIOUS, but also grounded at the same time (actual experts, not some SpaceX Fanboy Feverdream)
• They are competing for the various projects on this (like LunarX ?)

What OSE Can Learn From Them

PR is KEY

• Like when OSE Made the TED Talk, they are currently experiiencing a HUGE inflow of people, both "normal people" and some "high flying" SME 's
• Also they are making High Quality Videos, Renders, and Webpage Design
  • There stillare the Brutalist githubs, google docs, and cad etc, but this is not what the "public" sees on first search mainly

Backround

• Space, and Mars is VERY different from Earth in Design Philosophy:
  • Venting gas is almost forbidden due to how precious it is, even CO2 exhaust etc
    • The only acceptable cases are:
      • When nothing else is possible due to mass constraints (portable power etc)
      • RCS Thrusters
      • Rocket Engines
    • Outside of that it is Almost Always avoided
• Ground Space is Near Unlimited
  • No "claimed" land, no wildlife to dodge/protect (one of CSP's Main Limits)
    • Granted they aren't going 1800's etc and DESTROYING everything
  • Materials are scarce (short of regolith ( CEBs i n s p a c e is actually even more "economical" than on earth especially early on, or for cheap radiation sheilding)
  • Radiation Sheilding, at least for most habited areas, and for most of the day (for acceptable exposure, not NO exposure etc) is almost a requirement
  • All atmosphere is your responsobility
  • Anything atmosphere related DOES NOT WORK OUTSIDE (planes, lighter than air vehicles, most wind turbines, drones etc)
    • Althogh this makes aerodynamics less needed, if even a factor, short of orbital speeds
• DESPITE THIS they have similar philosophies of:
  • Self sufficiency
  • Eco friendly-ness
  • Modularity
  • Open Source Society
  • etc
• THUS we are intrested in similar things
• As of now (depending on data) they have WAY more people, and SME 's
• Also may have more funds
• We should not Leach off/steal from them, but we SHOULD collaborate + cross promote
