Positive Psychology may be defined as a mindset that centers on interpreting experience with a focus on deriving growth and learning from that experience. The assumption here is that growth or adaptation is a positive quality - one that promotes coping or survival - and thus is a foundatiin for thriving.
Positive Psychology may be a misnomer because positive is a relative term - different people have different interpretations of what is positive and negative. Thus perhaps a more accurate term would be Growth Psychology, or in the Extreme of growth - Sublimation Psychology.
