Because of the rural, farm environment surrounding the Hablab, dust and dirt can quickly accumulate in the Hablab. To combat these issues, shoes shall not be worn in the Hablab. There is a shoe rack available for shoe storage and house slippers. Shoes stored at the shoe rack should be the shoes an inhabitant has chosen to wear for the day and should not be storage for ALL of one’s shoes.

Purpose

The following information is provided for Dedicated Project Visitors (DPV) or Work Day event. The Hablab is a dorm-style living facility. To ensure a healthy and efficient working and living environment, review the following expectations and community standards:

About Maysville, Missouri

  • Maysville is a small, rural town with basic conveniences: grocery store, Dollar General, Casey's gas station, BBQ stand, hardware store. FeF is approximately 3 miles south of Maysville. Please more information see Maysville, MO City Data.
    • Cameron, MO is 12 miles south east of Maysville and has fast food, Wal-Mart, and motels.
    • Saint Joseph, MO is 36 miles west of Maysville and has most commercial conveniences of a small metropolis
    • Kansas City, MO is 65 miles south of Maysville and has conveniences of a metropolis as well as attractions and entertainment

DPV

Work Day

The work week at OSE is Mon-Fri, from 9:00am to 6:00pm with 60 minutes of personal time for lunch or other. As needed, OSE will host Design Sprints or build-outs/production runs on the weekends. If the work week extends into the weekend, the Product Lead will designate compensatory time off. Some DPVs choose to work more than 40 hours per week to maximize their “experience” and exposure to different challenges. While this choice is up to each person's discretion, compensatory time off is strongly encouraged.

DPVs receive work day direction from the Product Lead. Documentation DPVs receive work day direction from the Documentation Manger. Deviations from established tasks must be cleared with the Product Lead and Documentation Manager.

Collaboration vs Consensus

While collaboration is encouraged, consensus is not required. When discussing a contentious issue, it is strongly encouraged that the discussion is documented and posted for collaborative feedback on the issue. Due to time constraints and simple hierarchy, the Product Lead or other OSE Staff have final authority.

    • OSE has a rural farm cat named Boots. If you are allergic to cats, inform the TCM prior to accepting an offer as a DPV.
    • Food storage outside the kitchen is prohibited.
