Dear Julia,
Our new initiative is http://openbuildinginstitute.org - pwd is. Private, but you can share with friends. We are running a Kickstarter, embargo until June 14.
Includes a Materials Production Facility for producing stabilized CEBs, lumber; biofiber insulation; lime from local limestone; charcoal; silicate paint; 3D printed polycarbonate multiwall panels from scrap CDs.
See base model narrative: $22k in materials for 675 sf - http://opensourceecology.org/wiki/Seed_Eco-Home_Features
To pull this off requires an amazing array of subject matter experts (SMEs) which we are kindly collecting until war ends. Can you suggest any people for these roles?
Can you pump any publicity through Transition or other local foodie venues? The aquaponic greenhouse is also in the plan, as you see in the SMEs list.
Just mindin' my own business,
MJ

Hi Dan and Bill, (adobemachine.com)

Marcin here, founder of Open Source Ecology - https://www.ted.com/talks/marcin_jakubowski

We would like to invite you as an advisor to Open Source Ecology's new project, the Open Building Institute.

Please see the site - http://openbuildinginstitute.org/ - password OBI - and feel free to share this with colleagues - though this is not for public circulation until our product launch and Kickstarter on June 14, 2016. The site is under construction - please see the presentation at the main page.

Specifically, we are planning a 675 square foot showcase house model for a Nov. 2016 build, with these features:

http://opensourceecology.org/wiki/Seed_Eco-Home_Features

Part of the efforts is developing both building techniques and an open source Materials Production Facility - for stabilized block, lumber, bio-fiiber insulation, lime cement, slicate paint, and 3D printed multiwall polycarbonate glazing.

My request for your advisory role is to help us develop an earth blender for producing stabilized CEBs. We aim to go into production of both machines, materials, and houses.

If this sounds like a conflict of interest, the outcome would likely be positive for you. We get assistance on machine design, and you probably gain some positive publicity and sales. All of our designs are open source, so you would be contributing to the public interest and local enterprise.

Let me know your thoughts. The time commitment would be 1 hour volunteer consulting per quarter - and you would be posted as an advisor on our site under About -> Who We Are - where you could probably also benefit from the expertise of the advisory team, which we will be making all open source. See the features that we are opensourcing - http://opensourceecology.org/wiki/Seed_Eco-Home_Features, and the list of advisors that we are seeking for the project - http://opensourceecology.org/wiki/OBI_SME_Advisors

Thanks, Marcin

Hi Joshua,

As a leader on the world of open source hardware - we would like to invite you as an advisor to the Open Building Institute. - http://openbuildinginstitute.org/ - password - and feel free to share this with colleagues - though this is not for public circulation until our product launch and Kickstarter on June 14, 2016. (The site is under construction)

Specifically, we are planning a 675 square foot showcase model for a Nov. 2016 build, with these features:

http://opensourceecology.org/wiki/Seed_Eco-Home_Features

Part of this work that is most relevant to your expertise that could help us - is probablly the PV part. That means an off-grid or grid tie option for the house. I would like you to either review or help us generate the PV panel system integrated into the roof of the house model.

The requirement for our advisory team is a minimum of 1 hour per quarter of volunteer consulting time, with product being 100% genuine open source. The full agreement is posted at http://opensourceecology.org/wiki/OBI_SME_Advisors. I would also appreciate that if you cannot advise us, please recommend someone else - or if you know of any other SMEs in the areas included in the last link - please let me know. We are basically collecting tons of technical advisory expertise on the large number of areas related to regenerative housing. You would be featured on the OBI site under About - Who We Are, along with a stellar team of advisors - which we are building now until the June 14 Product Launch. The term of the advisory role would be 2 years until the full Eco-Home features are developed and proven. Or termination would happen if the relation no longer appeared to be productive.

Please let me know if you could be on this advisory team.

And you also mentioned that you could write for Huffington Post or Opensource.com. Can we plan this so the article is published on the 14th or 15th of June?

Thanks, Marcin

Hi Alastair, (WikiHouse)

As a leader on open source architecture - we would like to invite you as an advisor to Open Source Ecology's new collaboration, the Open Building Institute.

Please see the site - http://openbuildinginstitute.org/ - password - and feel free to share this with colleagues - though this is not for public circulation until our product launch and Kickstarter on June 14, 2016. The site is under construction - please see the slider at the main page.

Specifically, we are planning a 675 square foot showcase model for a Nov. 2016 build, with these features:

http://opensourceecology.org/wiki/Seed_Eco-Home_Features

Part of this work is developing building materials, developing a collaboration platform, and developing our code compliance.

We would like to have you on our advisory team in a capacity, and I'd like to bring up some options of advisory/collaborative capacity:

1. Developing bio-fiber panels, such as strawboard or others with natural binders. Or developing other construction materials. (You can see that we are working on several materials for this campaign - http://opensourceecology.org/wiki/OBI_Kickstarter_Product_Narrative#Materials_and_Machines) Advising/collaborating on an open source collaboration platform. 2. Collaboration on actual design or execution 3. Spreading the word 4. Other?

The requirement for our advisory team is a minimum of 1 hour per quarter of volunteer consulting time, with product being 100% genuine open source. The full agreement is posted at http://opensourceecology.org/wiki/OBI_SME_Advisors. I would also appreciate that if you cannot advise us, please recommend someone else - or if you know of any other SMEs in the areas included in the last link - please let me know. You would be featured on the OBI site under About - Who We Are, along with a stellar team of advisors - which we are building now until the June 14 Product Launch.

Do you see any other initiatives we can collaborate on? What are your current priorities? Do you see some room for collaboration?

Thanks, Marcin Founder Open Source Ecology

Part of this work is developing a collaboration platform for open design, where people submit designs using our design language and system. Also, we are dealing with various execution issues, such as compliance.

We would like to have you on our advisory team in a capacity :

1. Advising/collaborating on an open source collaboration platform. 2. Collaboration on actual design or execution 3. Spreading the word 4. Other?

Thanks, Marcin Founder Open Source Ecology

Pentair Aquatic Eco-Systems - emailed them the same. [1]

Delozone contacted - [2] -

I'm the founder of Open Source Ecology (please see my TED Talk at https://www.ted.com/talks/marcin_jakubowski) - and I would like to ask if you could put me in touch with one of your ozonator experts with respect to designing a custom ozonator, email is best. Thanks, Marcin

Dear Thomas Culhane, (world biogas leader, emailed, but on sabbatical, so tweeted @innoventor)

As the world's leading authority on home scale cold temperature Biodigesters, can we pull you in as an advisor to Open Source Ecology's new collaboration, the Open Building Institute?

Please see the site - http://openbuildinginstitute.org/ - password - and feel free to share this with friends - though this is not for public circulation until our product launch and Kickstarter on June 14, 2016.

Specifically, we are planning a 675 square foot showcase model for a Nov. 2016 build, with these features:

http://opensourceecology.org/wiki/Seed_Eco-Home_Features

The biogas digester is one of the features. It would be a flush separating toilet with an insinkerator and pump, coupled to an adjacent, insulated, stacked tote biodigester that provides 100% cooking gas for 2 and fertilizer for the garden. We are looking at a soak pit for urine in the immediate term, and aquaponic greenhouse integration for urine in later stages. We are also looking to build a rainwater-to-potable system, such that the November 2016 model is a 675 sf autonomous house with a $22k BOM cost.

Please let me know if you can advise us on the biodigester part. The requirement is a minimum of 1 hour per quarter of volunteer consulting time, with product being 100% genuine open source. The full agreement is posted at http://opensourceecology.org/wiki/OBI_SME_Advisors. I would also appreciate that if you cannot advise us, please recommend someone else - or if you know of any other SMEs in the areas included in the last link - please let me know. We are gathering a team for the next month until our product launch.

Do you see any other initiatives we can collaborate on? What are your current priorities?

Thanks, Marcin Founder Open Source Ecology
