Catarina, project founder and my partner - looks forward to meeting you once you make your way up here. November 3 - our first build of the year - would be a good time to see the team build process.
4 points:
First, I also mentioned that we are looking for a significant number of subject matter experts (SMEs) in all areas of regenerative construction. If you look at our list of techonogy areas - and in particular - the features of our November build - do any SMEs come to mind, who would be willing to open source technical content? For example, we definitely need an open source thermoelectric generator design (using Peltier cells) integrated with our pellet space heat/water heat stove, the world's first practical home scale biodigester design for the temperate zones, or water filtration with an ozonator. As you see - all proven technologies - but we're trying to lower the barriers to them by availing critical designs to the public. Our idea here is to burn pellets for heat, such that our byproduct is continuous charcoal production for soil amendment and gasifier engine fuel.
Second, we are close to launching - we decided on Wednesday, June 29. We are launching on Wednesday, June 29th (openbuildinginstitute.org, password OBI). You can see the Press Release - and 4 minute Kickstarter video in our preview which is nearing its final state. Please provide feedback on what we could improve.
Third - note that in the Kickstarter, we are offering education webinars as part of our reward structure. Would you be willing to do a 1 hour webinar on the Living Building Challenge, which we could offer as a reward? I think many people would love to support our campaign for that particular reward. Please let me know your thoughts on this.
And last - would you be able to help us get this launch published in any media during the next month of the campaign?

So to scheme on some strategy. We are asking several leaders (such as Bob Berkebile, cofounder of Living Building Challenge, one of our advisors) to present webinars. These webinars would be part of our Kickstarter rewards, all designed to move forward on meeting OBI goals. Can I ask you to do a 1 hour webinar - sometime in 2016 or early 2017 - that we position as something like "How to Start a Movement with a Good Story" referring to storytelling and/or phonebloks? I think you have a great following, and people would love to see this. Perhaps we can make this also relevant to how to tell the story about housing - so the webinar would be positioned to solve a big problem - of housing - and it would contribute to starting a movement.
Also, regarding plastic recycling - we want to move forward on the large 3D printer - using your recycler design. Maybe you can provide feedback on our build - which would involve the grinder but with a hydraulic motor and some other changes. If we do recycling, we probably want to go at a bigger scale. Perhaps the most important hint you can give us is leads to other people who are doing open source recyclers - or extrusion from pellets using a larger 3D printer. We want to print our polycarbonate greenhouse glazing for the 2017 build, and possibly the 2016 November build.

We are using a swarm-based rapid build method + modular design to deliver quality housing at breakthrough cost and speed, using our open source equipment.
We have pioneered 5 day builds of 800 square foot structures from scratch. We are going for Living Building Challenge (LBC) compliance. We want to take our build methods to high replicability. You can see the Press Release with pictures, our Kickstarter video in our preview (launching June 29).
Because we're trying Whole Earth Catalogue style - to make state of art technique available under one roof - literally - we focus on subject matter experts. We'd like to continue our outreach to assembe an outstanding advisory team to make this happen. We have great social capital, so we'd like to build upon it in building advisory capacity while getting the word out.

We already mentioned the Open Building Institute - and are refining our message. I would like to ask you to help us on some storytelling issues - how we communicate the OBI program to the world.

As you see on the SME Advisors page - I have you listed under Platform-> Storytelling. I think we have some disruption up our sleeves, on many fronts, including the basic issue of land tenure as you say - but many others including codes, and general rollout of the program. We are still building our website, so it's difficult for you to comment more without seeing more of our substance.
But the facts are plain: with enough SMEs (Subject Matter Experts) - we can produce a Living Building Challenge compliant home (essentially an autonomous house) at about $45k, not $1M as typical. Our goal is to integrate all human knowledge in building so people can build the best homes as the norm, not exception. I think that would lend itself to a clever way to present it.
We are also building an off-grid facility to product brick, lumber, paint, insulation, concrete, and polycarbonate multiwall glazing.

We hear you on the codes, and we need major help on facilitating this pickle. We complied with all applicable codes in our builds on site - we don't have a building department in Maysville, Missouri. Our goal is to understand and meet industry standards of compliance - and we are shooting for Living Building Challenge compliance in our Nov. 2017 build.
The thought process is that OBI paves the way for compliance. That means we design to code, and obtain various engineering approvals for stable designs, and provide sample arguments for compliance to building officials, expecting that they will have never seen many of the techniques that we are using. Our scope includes designs, build procedures (swarm builds), materials, and machines. Product testing is part of the game, such as 3rd party data on our CEBs. Basically, we make it easy for others to replicate by providing an arsenal of documentation.

I'm a founding partner in a new initiative called Open Building Institute, a tool kit to make affordable, ecological housing widely accessible. It includes designs, software, machines, and materials.

For the energy part, we are looking at options for night time energy storage. Our goal is to normalize housing up to Living Building Challenge (LBC) standard, the highest in the world. We have a tentative yes for advisory capacity from Bob Berkebile, LBC co-founder.
Can you advise us on compressed air storage? I don't see conflict of interest if LightSail is grid scale, not home scale. Your advice would be open source, if you were to accept.

How are things with SACA?
We've been building our crazy open source machines for years. We are culminating with an initiative to make ecological and affordable housing widely accessible, via a modular approach. We are including a pellet burner with heat exchanger for hydronics as part of this effort - house heating and hot water. We are looking for advisory assistance on the design of an open source pellet stove, and down the road, continuous charcoal production. The charcoal is for gasifiers for engines, as well as oxy-chargas cutting in the workshop.

The biogas digester is one of the features. It would be a flush separating toilet with an insinkerator and pump, coupled to an adjacent, insulated, stacked tote biodigester that provides 100% cooking gas for 2 and fertilizer for the garden. We are looking at a soak pit for urine in the immediate term, and aquaponic greenhouse integration for urine in later stages. We are also looking to build a rainwater-to-potable system, such that the November 2016 model is a 675 sf autonomous house with a $22k BOM cost.
