Building the living and working infrastructure is part of the Factor e Farm experiment. We want to discover insights on the feasibility of starting a DIY community. This includes infrastructure creation - as one of the tasks taken on by participants. Our replication model for future communities requires that we understand the insights of team work, ergonomics, and machine use - of what it takes to build a real community in a practical, easy, and replicable way. Work days are intended to be collaborative and synergistic. Typically, these are from 9AM-5PM unless otherwise noted.
To prepare:
- Announcement is made Monday
- Email invitation is sent out to Factor e Farm Google Group on Monday for the coming week.
On the day:
- 8 Hour work commitment is expected. No errands or other diversions should be undertaken at this time to keep team spirit and progress high.
- Break for lunch is not included in the 8 hours.
Dress guidelines:
- Wear hard-toed shoes, eye protection, ear protection, and hard hats as needed.
Visitors:
- Visitors are required to sign our Liability Release Waiver
- In exchange for a facility tour, visitors are required to participate the whole day during the work day. Dinner will usually be provided.
- Pure visitors are required to pay our $100 visitor fee. The tour is 1 hour long with a question and answer by the ED occurring over dinner. See Visit Factor e Farm.
- Work typically starts at 9AM. Tours shall happen over the lunch break.
