In today's digital age, Linux open source software runs the internet. Linux as a project gathers $1B of voluntary software development contributions to build a computer operating system that everyone has access to. Similarly, wikipedia gathers $1B of encyclopedia edit value per yer. Our question is - when will the same happen for hardware?
In today's digital age, Linux open source software runs the internet. Linux as a project gathers $1B of voluntary software development contributions to build a computer operating system that everyone has access to. Similarly, wikipedia gathers $1B of encyclopedia edit value per yer. We are asking - how do we get to a trillion dollar per year - for open source hardware?

The first step is a platform
Distributed manufacturing is the name of the game. For that, we need open source design. For that, we are building teams.

Distributed production is an idea whose time has come. Open source microfactories can take us there.  Imagine transcendence of artificial scarcity. So we can begin to evolve - as humans.
So far, we have built over 100 open source industrial machine prototypes, and our next step is turning each of them into full products. So far we have seen over 2 dozen replications by people who downloaded our plans in 13 countries around the world. Cool, but far from viral or significant economic impact. We can built heavy machines in a single day, and last year we built a seed eco-home in 5 days.

We build industrial machines in one day and publish the plans on the internet for free (flash through 50 slides). (Stamp: Extreme Manufacturing) We also built a house with aquaponic greenhouse - in 5 days. (Stamp: Extreme Manufacturing) Open source social production works.
We are taking it to the next level. We are organizing development teams for a well-organized development effort. This is a call out to you. If you are a professional, and you would like to contribute to a project with purpose, and you have 10 hours per week for a volunteer project - then this is for you. We promise effective teams and a learning environment - immersed in open source culture. Apply today.

But we need to take it to the next level. Linux started 25 years ago - and today - volunteers provide $1B of development contributions - every year. How do we do that for Open Source hardware development?

It starts with building highly effective teams and this is a call-out to you. If you have a full time job but you are itching for disruption - this may be a good chance. Our promise to you is an extreme development environment that won't waste your time. Apply today.

Let's push the limits of what we all can do - to make a better world, with open hardware technology.
