Existing Open Source Designs
Minimum Viable Product
- Uses Either Electric, or Hydraulic Engines for the lift fan(s)
- Thrust can either be a fan similar to the lift fan, or some sort of jet engine
- Keep the air intakes not near the cabin (unlike many hovercraft)
- Powercube Driven
- Fast
- Scaleable from a 1 passenger version to a 10 passenger version
Basic Design
Hull
- Fiberglass or Composite Hull
- Printed in one piece using the Open Source Watercraft Hull Printer
Powercube Array
- Anywhere from a single to a 5 slot array
Lift Fan(s)
- These provide the air cushion
- Usually lower power, so they can easily be hydraulic or electric
- 3D Printed Blades
- Either just one in the front, or one in each corner, or a triangle setup of one in the front and one one each side
Skirt
- This Helps contain and maintain a larger air cushion
- Is either a thick fabric, or some sort of plastic sheeting
Cabin
- This is optional, but would enclose the cockpit built in to the hull
