A 3D scanner allows one to recreate a 3-dimensional object digitally, for subsequent use in modeling and CAM. CAM file generation may relate to 3D plastic or ceramic printing, making of 3D molds with an Industrial Robot, CNC machining, and even to 2D CNC cutting or milling.
- The concept is to produce a device that can be used to scan a 3D object in minutes via a hand-held device costing no more than about $300 in parts.
