How to Create One

- RFID Tags have been used, albeit often as mainly a form of DRM to identify what spool is being used in a FDM 3D Printer
- A Similar Mechanism could be done with Paper Labels Cardboard Spools and either an Inkjet Printer or better yet a Plotter and 2D Barcodes ( QR Codes are one type of these)
- Another method would be using just the Cardboard Spool and Laser Engrave the label into the spool itself
- If 3D Printed Spools are used, something akin to Double Shot Injection Molding could be done with Multicolor FDM 3D Printing for a similar effect
- Essentially Though One Would Either "Scan In" The Spool Pre-Inserting The Filament, or The Spoolholder Itself Could Have A Camera!
- The Advantage of Not Using RFID Tags would be Cost and E-Waste reduction
