Basics
- A Company making a Tractor Towed System for Crop Desiccation
- Typically something like Glycophosphate would be used, this system used a High Voltage Electrode Array to destroy the cells in the plants' leaves/stocks
- A Saline Solution is sprayed from a bar attached to the front of the tractor to increase conductivity (which not only increases effectiveness, but supposedly reduces energy use compared to a "brute force" approach)
- Seems interesting, although need to contact experts and see if this can replace all use cases of conventional Crop Desiccants, or if it only fills a certain niche
- To double check that it isn't swapping one harm for another, a LCA considering Water Use / GHG Emissions + E-Waste etc from this system may be of use, albeit that may be a bit excessive
