Basics

  • A technique used in Smart Grids to help with Energy Load Managment
  • It aims to reduce peaks and dips in energy consumption by encouraging some loads to be moved around to make the Electrical Load Factor , and thus make the grid more efficient
  • Abbreviate as EDSM? (seems like a relitively unused abbreviation, unlike DSM, and EDM)

Internal Links

  • Smart Grid
  • Wash Cold / “Tap Cold” Setting on Washing Machines
    • Related concept albeit for Hot Water / Thermal “Budget” Rather than Electricity (at least directly)
    • Outside of some chemical reactions such as “Oxy-Clean” etc most soaps/stains don’t NEED Hot Water so especially if it isn’t that dirty/just as a “roughing cycle” for ESPECIALLY nasty Work Clothes / Coveralls etc (Ie get the MAJORITY of the dirt/oil off pre doing hot water+softener so no stains get “locked in” etc or you don’t default to the cleaning “nuclear option” if that may not have even been needed
    • Also unlike telling people to take colder showers and/or shorter showers, or not use a PC, MUCH easier to get people to do
    • Some campaigns/ad’s on this but Learning WHY not just HOW / Evidence Based Laundry / Evidence Based Cleaning can kind of tie into that
