Catarina,

I am putting together an Open Hardware meetup in the Boston/Cambridge area on Sat, April 20 @ 1pm. Is there anyone from OSHWA that would be available to present or connect us to local open hardware companies that would like to do the same?

We would love to get OSHWA involved - we're hoping SparkFun will make an appearance too (looks like their on the OSHWA board)!

Best,
Sara

Hey Catarina,

Great to meet you. We believe what we're building is going to fill the need for a github for hardware. I am currently managing our beta program(our privatet collaboration tool- GrabCAD Workbench) and Sara(cc'd) is our community manager who has participated in some GrabCAD sponsored hardware hackathons. Some of your members have probably heard of us but may not be aware of the tool that we are building since it is in exclusive beta and there is no mention of it on our website(we'll be relaunching the site in 2 weeks to reflect this).

We would be most honored to provide this service to your community, in hopes of satiating their thirst for the next generation in open engineering solutions as well as getting some blunt feedback on how we could improve on the tool. Perhaps our next step is to show you what we're working and then we find a way to present the info to your community.

Let me know if you have other ideas on how to proceed.

Cheers,

Andrew

Collaboration

OSE has used GrabCAD for 3 projects - Ironworker Machine GrabCAD Challenge, Backhoe GrabCAD Challenge, and LifeTrac Quick Connect Wheels GrabCAD Challenge. Hardi spoke to OSE about hosting a dedicated hackathon on one of the OSE machines or a set of them. It would be strategic to host a major hackathon with GrabCAD to move design on the LifeTrac Construction Set, and 3 Month Prototyping Plan 2013 forward:
