Housing is expensive. Did you know that in 2013 the average price of a new home was $400,000? This doesn't count financing - if you get a mortgage - or pay until death - you would be paying twice that.
Housing is the single largest cost of living - out of food, clothing, transportation. It's about 60- 70℅. Did you know that an avg American spends $1.2M over their entire life just to pay for housing, food, clothing, and transport? These are hljust basics - not counting vacations or anything else you buy.
This doesn't have to be.
Let's look at the costs. The largest part of that is construction costs - $270k or about 70% of that.
