- The area in which any robot can theoretically operate
- More specifically this can be called the "Maximum Work Envelope"

Restricted Envelope
- The Section of the Maximum Work Envelope to which the robot is limited by Limit Devices such as Limit Switches or physical shields in a Robot Cell etc
Operating Envelope
- The part of the Restricted Envelope that a particular operation will cross
- This is the most dangerous place
