Neosubsistence - a version of subsistence in the digital age, where it becomes feasible for communities to produce all essential goods on the local scale - up to a modern standard of living - via an advanced level of import substition. This relies on globally-generated open design repositories and local production capacity, such as via RepLabs. Neosubsistence may include surplus production for outside markets, and it is a means whereby material security is generated by communities - or even individuals - motivated by pursuit of Higher Purpose.
