I've worked in high school education for 7 years in Indonesia, Florida, Idaho, and for one online school based in Pennsylvania, which enabled me to road-trip across the US. I mostly taught English, logic, and rhetoric from 9th-12th grade, but also tutored geometry and worked on some curriculum design projects. I often found myself involved in documentation for various accrediting bodies. Later, the Rafiki Foundation hired me to write their rhetoric curriculum from their African schools, which presented fascinating problems of justifying and managing a bridge between classical western subjects and contemporary non-western audiences. I received a BA in Liberal Arts and Culture from New St Andrews College, Moscow ID in 2007; and a MA in Teaching from Liberty University, in Lynchburg VA in 2011. I wanted to reconnect with craftsmanship though and in 2016 I decided to pull the trigger to learn some hard skills and took a VC in Applied Welding Technologies from Seminole Community College, Sanford FL. Since then I've been training in fabrication at a local hacker lab / maker space.
