Basics

  • This is a planned workshop for somewhere around June 2018
  • The Current Planned Dates are June 1-3, 2018
  • It will encompass how to build, maintain, and use, an aquaponic greenhouse

Program

  • June 1-3, 2018
  • Today was Feb 4 = T-120
  • Assets - Design Book given to participants. Others can purchase the book online, printed or e-book on the OBI site, OSE site
  • Preparation required:
  • All materials on-site at T-30
  • All materials ordered at T-60
  • Update full CAD for Greenhouse - time permitting
  • Update all documentation

Day 1

  • 8 AM - Intro. Design Overview.
  • 9-12 - Build Towers. 3D Print towers. Plant seeds. Plant out towers. Plant growing beds with carrots, radish, beet, ginger, turnip, parsnip
  • 12-1 - Lunch
  • 1-2 - Afternoon Design Discussion - Fish and Water
  • 2-5 - Hands-on fish breeding. Water quality and soil food web testing with USB microscope (possibly with open source 3D printed version). Filtration of pond water in addition to fertigation. Fish harvest for dinner.
  • Dinner 6-7
  • Discussion, Q&A 7-8

Day 2

  • 8 AM - Automation + Gutters
  • 9-12 - Build of Control Panel. Build of automated tower watering. Grow bed watering automation. Bottom watering automation.
  • 12-1 - Lunch
  • 1-2 - Design Discussion.
  • 2-5 - Mushrooms: starting buckets. Mushroom operation automation: automatic bucket sterilizer/loader design. Azolla + Duckweed planting. Hillbilly heater build.
  • Dinner 6-7
  • Discussion, Q&A 7-8

Day 3

  • 8 AM - Morning Design Discussion - Feeding, Maintaining for Continuity, Heating, Harvesting.
  • 9-12 - Automatic fish feeding- 3D printed fish feeder. Fans. Water temperature measurement. Fans for summer cooling. Automating all temperature controls. Build azolla/duckweed trough plumbing. 4 teams.
  • 12-1 - Lunch
  • 1-2 - Afternoon design session.
  • 2-5 - Worm towers install. Chicken operations. Automation of Azolla/Duckweed for automatic harvesting. Hillbilly heater automation, flow, and energy measurements.
  • Dinner 6-7.
  • Closure Discussion, Q&A 7-8
