A house designed for efficiency would require 3 kW hr of night power at max. See discussion - [1]. This comes out to under 200W at night. This can be achieved with an amp at 240V. Thus, we can achieve largely solar operation like this, and perhaps generate the rest with biogas electric power. Wind and gravity storage could work in good locations. If each house has 12kW of PV, we can install a 50kW wind turbine to produce 5 kW power on average.
