We are looking for a wide range of interdisciplinary-minded, systems thinkers and doers!
In 2014, Open Source Ecology is teaming up with top Universities to design and build the tools of the Global Village Construction Set. We are looking for interdisciplinary-minded, system thinker-students in:
- Interdisciplinary Studies
- Architecture
- Education
- Open Source Hardware
- Creative Writing
- Engineering
- Agricultural Engineering
- Agriculture
- Design
- Multimedia
- Information Architecure
- Information Technology
- Social Enterprise
- Appropriate Technology
- robotics
and many other engineering-for-good, community service, and other social good areas.
What's in it for you?
Students can benefit from an applied, hands-on internships and collaboration experiences with Open Source Ecology. For one, this builds your resume - while taking on a meaningful project. There are several ways university students can get involved:

What will you do?
The OSE schedule involves design, rapid prototyping, and build-outs of our technologies and of our infrastructure. We will work in a team of 12 people, and move towards a prototype of a module or machine on the scale of a week. We will be doing research, design, documentation, video, rapid prototyping with 3D printers and laser cutters, and up to a real builds of heavy machines, as well as smaller digital fabrication tools. We will do work in the garden testing our tractors.
Students get involved in:
- Design, build and documentation of one of the tools of the Global Village Construction Set (or propose and build a new tool we hadn't thought of)
- Replicate one of the tools we have already designed, such as the LifeTrac tractor, or the Compressed Earth Block press
- Help us build the documentation, such as drafting CAD files for the GVCS tools
- Any other way you want to contribute!

If you are interested in collaborating, please
- Fill out the Team Culturing survey, sharing what kind of people can help and in what of way
- Add your location to the Crowdmap.
- As Report Title - write the name of your educational institution.
- As Category - choose "Educational Institution" and the categories corresponding to the planned collaboration.
- To the left of Find Location - enter your location.
- Post on the Education Forum explaining your area of study, what projects you are undertaking in university, and how you would like to collaborate.
- Send an email to opensourceecology (at) gmail (dot) com - to introduce yourself and how you would like to collaborate.
