One way to recruit for the real global village, we would use the game as the recruit i recruiting and ing tool. The game would involve building the infrastructure with our open source tools - with the caveat that everything in the game is proven to be buildable, and its economics are understood. Not only that - but the people actually fund the real world with what they purchase in the game - such that the game is also a funding tool. And the geme would also have to vet peoples' character so that the village would have a great cultural fit. A game could be a good funding format. Gamification could infiltrate distributed industrial productivity into virtual worlds - a great disconnect that could be leveraged for social good.

Scenario

  • Game is a game like Civilization? or Farmville? - which involves building of virtual infrastructures.
  • OS Civilization Game is a social business. It leverages the entertainment format - but a part of the proceeds go to funding real infrastructure for players.
  • The real infrastructure aspects incentivizes some people to participate
  • Funding is allocated to doing real builds.
  • Prerequisite is that there are part libraries for housing, tractors, cars, golf carts, and other useful machines. These are open-sourced, so that machine costs drop by a factor of 10x, including the lifetime design aspect.
  • Game development resources fund the development of real technology. The game is a real world game that researches the deepest trouble spots everywhere, and funds productive infrastructures based on troublespots.
  • The game focuses around economic development and empowerment and education through social business.
  • The game finds local change agents who actually play the game, and then get trained to do certain things.
  • The game works with a set of skills badges, where people mastering those badges get visible results in the game.
  • Once results are demonstrated in the game - such as designing a tractor from a warehouse full of part library parts. Then the person may qualify, after doing the appropriate calculations, to a real build.
  • They can fundraise for the build within the game - but not by nagging. Game incentivizes cooperation - in that any project is done as a collaboration between different people.
  • Some people build library parts, and get rewarded.
  • There is an aspect of producing real parts from scratch. Parts are scored based on certain algorithms.
  • Game teaches you how to build certain things.
  • So we get a reduced set of Admissible Parts. These parts are built in the game. These parts are funded by the game automatically, pending a certain number of people learning a certain skill from scratch. The people who succeed in virtual design and build are automatically rewarded with an ability to participate in a funded, live build. Thus, the game rewards a few winners.
