Basics

  • Often abbreviated as MTO
  • olefins can also be called Alkenes (double check this, may be similar to rubber vs elastomer where there is a slight difference) and thuss MTA
  • A Process by where Methanol is converted to olefins
  • One of the ways to make petrolium products from biological source materials
  • Can be an integrated step in a Gas to Liquids process as well, but it can work from methanol on it's own as well
