Coal Tar vs Biomass Tar

Basics

  • Both can be produced intentially, or as a pollutant
  • Can lead to clogging of equipment
  • Have uses, but may be carcinogenic, ESPECIALLY coal tar (mainly preservation/waterproofing but SUPPOSEDLY coal tar was/is used for MEDICINE ?
  • Need to see if due to minerals or benzene
    • Benzene was first produced via pyrolisis of coal tar, and thus may be removed in that manner?
  • Also dig for analysis on content, and volume, of tar from various systems (gassification, combustion, pyrolysis, fluidized versions...)
