Basics

  • RTC but 90's wiki style

Dated Entries

  • Career Improvement Plots:
    • FSCJ Classes that are Interesting:
    • Environmental Science Technology Associates
      • Go from being the one digging the oil spill up for JEA, to the one signing the paperwork
        • Jobs Listing
        • Pretty damn recession/pandemic-proof, as people will (outside of POTENTIAL long term decentralization etc) always need Power/Water/Sewage etc
        • Short of a “Go and tale pictures of a stream and notice how it changes with rain” thing, which i fell behind on and that messed my grade up, and the Industrial Hygiene being damn empty and thus awkward to hell and back making my anxiety go up, I DID WELL with those classes, and whenever thinking of Water Resource Management, or History of OSHA/EPA stuff etc i remember what i learned
          • Also for better or for worse, doing the grunt work + taking my HAZWOPER + doing yard work by that dry stream/ditch has taught me a lot too
            • It floods a bit after rain, got issues of Channelization/Coarse Woody Debris + Marine Litter etc
  • Note One Concern i have about the following programs is them getting me addicted to using proprietary systems (or even worse, my brain “thinking in Thau 🫨🙀 “ rather than Mm/Micrometers/Nanometers etc
    • It’s faded on me now, but using Autodesk Inventor made older FreeCAD really feel like a downgrade
      • With the updates in the later versions/of the Sketcher isn’t broken on non-windows versions it SHOULD be fine and with enough use anything can become familiar, i just see this as a concern
    • BUT:
  • CNC Machinist/Fabricator (T.C.)
    • Decent amount of Machinist Jobs Nearby
    • May be able to leverage my TWIC card / get a security clearance too which would open up more opportunities in this space as well
    • Also it is something I’m interested/passionate about so it would HOPEFULLY be more fun/interesting than basic “grunt work”; although i’m sure the grass isn’t always greener/ production quotas or mismanagement could easily change that
  • Advanced Manufacturing (Automation) (T.C.)
    • If i understand correctly, this is Mechatronics / PLCs / SCADA etc but without the Engineering/Math aspect, just the tinkering/maintenance, which is VERY up my alley
    • Main downside is uncertain on job opportunities, probably millwright / maintainer stuff?
  • GIS (Geographic Information System) Technician (T.C.)
    • Main concern is the aforementioned they probably aren’t using QGIS etc
      • Although as with my High School Photography Class if need be i could use it as an opportunity to learn BOTH software suites by doing the project twice
    • Also uncertain on jobs; the picture shows someone using a Total Station probably some jobs in that, desk GIS work is largely government planning stuff based (that local transit public involvement bit had some GIS map of crashes/dangerous intersections etc, making that was some advisor group’s job)
    • Probably networks in with Environmental / Political Science / Other stuff if i pursued that down the road too

10/26/2025

  • Uncertain if this is the right page or whatnot, but in terms of trying to clear up my daily log, dumping my "pre-log thoughts" here
  • Didn't get around to a Videocall with User: Marcin , but that's on me for the most part
    • Burnt saturday sleeping off that Pig Cleaning job, today was MOSTLY productive, albeit if a bit unfocused
  • One bit that's been a bit irksome is even with just one chrome browser running (ie just my "business email", not personal for Music Streaming as well etc, and maybe 5-10 tabs my laptop is still being VERY slow
    • Could be worse
    • RAM is only at 60-80% though, so it MAY be the HDD being slow
    • Need to try reformatting it / PROPERLY sending everything over to that NVME SSD i added and made me reboot/setup this laptop for whatever reason ("Windows Recovery" and all that)
      • Also i THOUGHT windows did all that jazz on it's own whenever you shut down/rebooted or whatever but apparently reformatting MAY help
      • Getting more data off the HDD would probably help too (Loose phots/screenshots etc)
      • My work email/google photos is near maxed out too due to Phone Backups, so Eric's (Planned) Data Storage Ecosystem Workflow is something i need to get back on
  • My room is a MAJOR mess which isn't conductive to projects and all that, ordering more bins / plotting that out MAY help a bit, but all in all i just gotta get my own place or something
    • Granted another weekend and i STILL haven't made that spreadsheet but yeah
  • Also work burnout is about the same
    • Another coworker MAY be jumping ship soon, and if they get a management role they offered to try and get me hired over there
    • Raise would be nice, but i'm a bit too cynical to believe there is ANY green grass out there, short of MAYBE building something nice from scratch with OSE etc / being inspired by that i don't think there are any green pastures out there in terms of jobs, at least with my current lower level technical skill "grunt work" type jobs
  • ON THE NOTE OF POTENTIAL FUTURE JOBS
    • The jump ship with that coworker option, may let them be there for a week or two to see how much of the interview info was lies / fluff vs reality or if we get lucky and it is nicer etc
    • If so that's Option A; same location+job description etc, but different employer
    • Option B is go back to FSCJ and get an Associates and/or Bachelors in Environmental Science or something, then fork that into a Job at JEA, or UNF degree hunting etc
      • Straight back to UNF may be an option too but uncertain, may be harder
      • November Deadline for a January sounds accurate so i really gotta get on scoping this all out
    • Option C is run off and join OSE in doing the apprentice stuff and/or being a research gremlin / site developer / smm+content creator etc
      • Really need to get on that video call with marcin to scope some things out
      • Also mainly to un-spook parents, but a hard contract on pay and all that would be good too
        • Haven't scoped out the U-Haul Cost etc, but seems like there are AT LEAST places to get meds and whatnot nearby, and a decent hotel, etc
          • Still gotta look up actual hospitals (like what we do for Tailgate Safety Meeting etc like u have a heart attack or whatever, or even like really bad strep throat/covid or whatever, where do you go
          • Here in Jax, we have more hospitals than we know what to do with, so it's more an afterthought than anything
          • Also depends on Garden Size/Capacity etc, but Grocery Stores/Walmarts too
          • Also what type of mailbox we talkin, or would setting up a PO box be worth it etc
          • Also a more detailed map of FeF (where to park, where would i be at? (Onsite lodging / camping in a tent, or what is the current status of all that)
        • I have SOME savings, but not a TON (especially if any big surprises car wise showed up, or if i do buy a newer Framework laptop/some other bigger stuff etc)
        • This last week had some HOURS though, so assuming it all wasn't blown on gas station snacks, should have some help with that lol
        • Health insurance is another one of the big question marks with this option too; gotta love the Neo-Feudalism aspect of all that lol
        • Could be worse though, so let's not get TOO melodramatic
  • All in all making progress, but i REALLY gotta spend an entire weekend fleshing all this out. Hopefully next weekend can be that
  • Either way gotta head off to sleep now for 0500 wakeup, so goodnight wiki (and all the new people on here recently :3 )
  • Just checked it out of curiosity, and just based off zip codes, Uhaul was wstimating 1,000 USD - 1,500 USD for a moving trip one way out to FeF
    • For travel/not moving out there to stay long term i could definitely just cram stuff in my hatchback, convincing family to bring the van etc would be a stretch but MAYBE could be done and save on that too but yeah
    • Uhaul sure would be convenient though, too bad my Carolla can’t tow anything (although citation needed, could MAYBE do some small aftermarket trailer, but that sounds questionable)
  • ’’’Option D’’’ would be pursue another entry level but probably low/lower pay position in some other field (Landscaping, Construction, Sandblasting, Cranes/Heavy Equipment/Rigging, Road Construction/Maintainance, Cell Tower Climber etc
