Talk:X Ray Camera
Open Source CT Scanner / Industrial Radiography (Despite being called “X-Rays” by welders etc, most NDT Radiography used a Gamma Source if i remember correctly, which while they are and can be handled safely are spooky and NOT “appropriate materials”
In terms of CT Scanning, a Crude Phosphor Screen + (Often Used/Surplus/NOS Medical) X-Ray Tube + Off The Shelf Digital Camera + Crude Shielding and Acess Control can work alright.
The “high end” of DIY would be getting integrated detectors (basically phosphor layer over a monochrome cct or whatever. Those have a higher resolution and maybe whatever the radiography equivalent of ISO is?
‘’’ALSO’’’ diy artisanal vacuum tubes/the aforementioned used ones etc have some issues if i remember correctly, mainly:
- Not a Point Source / Seccondary Stray X-Rays
- Not HORRIBLE, but limits resolution if i remember correctly
- Lower Beam Power
- A small, air cooled, vacuum tube amp tube like thing, is going to pale in comparison to a Water Cooled, Spinning Anode, All Tungsten+Superalloy etc BEAST of a tube.
- Not a Point Source / Seccondary Stray X-Rays
All in all though, having a “reverse engineering shed” with a Primitive X-Ray CT Scanner, and once that is not in use+all LOTO , 3D Scanners/Electrical Reverse Engineering Gear, and Photogrammetry/3D Scanners etc at FeF would be VERY cool!
