Basics

  • This page aims to lay out, and plan the implementation of, a method for fabrication of RDF from sorted Household Trash ( MSW ) that can be:
    • Stored (without degradation of the less ideal fuels, or mess
    • Burn in a “clean” manner akin to a “clean” wood or charcoal fuel
  • In essence “loose” rdf, rather than being shredded and pelletized then distributed as a fuel for specialized systems, or burned directly in a larger centralized W2E plant, is placed inside a Molded Pulp / Briqette based “shell” of a Wood/Recycled Paper/Charcoal
  • Further experimentation/modeling is required, but to what degree Paper/Wood vs Char in the shell and/or alternating layers therof impact emissions/combustion characteristics is worth investigating as well
    • IE does a hotter/quicker starting flame “clean” any Hydrocarbons/Soot emissions better than a “pre formed” layer of char? Is there a synergistic effect?
  • All in all though, without specialized stoves, specialized processing equipment/facilities, or centralized W2E Infantry, this allows (albeit pre-sorted) RDF to be burned cleanly at a small and decentralized scale
  • It also may valorize Litter from Litter Remediation by allowing it to be used for Wood Stove heating fuel (at a discount vs proper lumber)
    • Depending on the area this may reduce deforestation somewhat, ALTHOUGH this is probably not the best/sole way to do so ( Rural Electrification etc)
