Basics

  • Generating two or more useful products/results with the same generator
  • Most common is two:
    • Electrical Power
    • Heat/Heating (Hot air, Steam or both)
  • This is referred to as CHP or Combined Heat and Power
  • The next "step up" is tri generation with:
    • Cooling (Typically of Air and/or Water via Adsorbtion Refrigeration )
    • Electrical Power
    • Heat/Heating (Hot air, Steam or both)
  • This is more rare, but is referred to as CCHP or Combined Cooling Heat and Power
  • Finally mecanical power, ande pnuematic power are also a possibility
  • Finally chemical processes can be done (although this is typically in an industrial setting_
  • Some chemical processes that may be useful small scale are:
    • Drying (Of wood, food, chemicals, or even as a hot dry air source for some Solar Still or Solar Updraft Tower )
    • Pure CO2 Production
    • Hydrogen Production
