Sam L.
Sam L. says:Hello everyone - apologies on the late arrival
Sam L. says:How about 3dprinting with concrete or similar material - such as this project

Elijah Esmeralda says:Interesting!
8:28
Sam L.
Sam L. says:Massive semi-mounted printers and a proprietary printing mix - complex but an interesting idea, I wonder what their costs are
8:29
Elijah Esmeralda
Elijah Esmeralda says:Not 3d printing but Plastic based

Sam L.
Sam L. says:Very cool! I wonder how they process the recycled material - a similar method could be used to extrude filament for dimensional lumber printing like marcin is talking about
Sam L. says:Their discord has a lot of good info - they seem to be working on a very similar type of project

Sam L. says:If anyone feels like taking a look 😃 Might find some good challenge participants from thiscommunity

Elijah Esmeralda says:yup just joined the video making community there.

Sam L.
Sam L. says:What would the energy requirements be to keep the chamber at a temperature that high?
Sam L. says:Seems like insulating the chamber to reduce heat loss could be a priority to cut operational costs
Sam L. says:👍 nvm that answers that

Paul Cuciureanu
Paul Cuciureanu says:Do we still need the intermediary filament if we also build the machine that melts the plastic on site?
Paul Cuciureanu says:3D print the molds?
Paul Cuciureanu says:Can it later be repurposed to bioplastics once we run out of trash?
11:19
Sam L.
Sam L. says:Filament is nice because you can basically stockpile it and controlling its flow with a standard extruder is very simple - design would need to be revamped to directly use a flow of molten plastic, energy requirements due to heat loss would likely be higher
11:21
Paul Cuciureanu
Paul Cuciureanu says:It's tricky to reward collaboration, which is intrinsic to most early collaboraors
11:34
Sam L.
Sam L. says:That is true... Part of the beauty of the idea is its decentralized nature, instead of creating a corporation, you can create a many headed hydra of interconnected organizations
Sam L. says:Anyone with the drive to do so, can get rewarded in turn for their effort in theory
11:37
Paul
me says:Insulated concrete forms, can we adapt to plastic or rammed earth?
https://newhousebuilder.com/insulated-concrete-forms/
11:41
Paul Cuciureanu
Paul Cuciureanu says:How long does it take to print the lumber? Might be the limiting factor(?)
11:46
Paul
me says:That's a good question. One thing I'd like to contribute is calculations: printing time length, and also energy cost of both melting plastic, and reprinting it
me says:Remote teammates, please feel free to join the OSE Discord!
