The Collaborative Economy is an economy where open source software and hardware is used in collaborative development of products and services. The economic framework in this paradigm transitions to Distributive Enterprise, as a means to regenerative solutions at scale for addressing all Pressing World Issues. This includes Distributed Market Substitution as a natural byproduct, and a transition from patents and trade secrets to open collaboration.

The Collaborative Economy is the essential goal of OSE, as embodied in the OSE Vision. OSE is developing the enabling hardware as well as collaborative social technology to enable the transition to the collaborative Economy. OSE's paradigm for collaboration is embodied in OSE's development of Collaborative Literacy theory and practice.
