Common Materials is an abundance concept - whereby distributed production from common and widely available feedstocks displaces exotic, centrally produced materials.

For example, central toluene or diesel in proprietary factories vs open source microfactories producing the same from charcoal and open process blueprints. Or hydrogen from water instead of steam reforming of natural gas. Or Solar Steel or Solar Concrete.
