  • popularized in 1995 by Goleman, coined in 1990 by scholars Salovey and Mayer, it took more than 2 decades to get past dumbstlruck. It can be used for good, or evil such as Hitler. An evil people do well use it around you. If used with Moral Intelligence, it is for the good.


One of key practical aspects is indignation at injustice or unfairness which can drive significant motivation for correcting the same, mythologized in antiheroes such as The Punisher. The opposite may be called cynicism, lack of hope, or indifference - demoting the level of human agency to the level of the walking dead.
