Updating the graphic for the CEB tee-shirt. Below two alternatives to print depending on the cost difference of front & back vs front side only printing. The blueprint graphic on the back (alternative 1) looks better than having the same graphic on the front only. For front only printing the approach to the design needs to be slightly different. I will be updating that graphic later today.

Design sprint today; I had a bit of trouble getting the hangout settings right. I did manage to update the Design sprint announcement on the wiki but did not delete the previous announcement. It took me a few tries before ending up adding people in my google + OSE circle. I will talk to Marcin to see how he goes about doing this.

Had a great conversation with Emily Aiken about OSE communication strategy. Emily commented on some of the previous work done on the OSE story, and shared some references to keep in mind for facebook posts and ads.

Created vector artwork based on the CEB infographic illustration in inkscape for T-shirt proposal. Also, Marcin suggested hosting a Design Sprint this week to involve the OSE community in the brainstorming/design and stratagy for OSE merchandising, starting with T-shirts. Here´s a link to the google doc for recording the development/progress on the day of the sprint.

Here is the yellow logo for Eventbrite - ,
Started converting pages from the OSE identity guidelines from illustrator to inkscape. As far as I can tell, in its current version (Inkscape 0.48.4 r9939) Inkscape does not allow multiple pages per document. I will have to look into this further. (I will be uploading high resolution jpg/pngs of the logos for ease of use by OSE team members.)
Above: These are the recommended uses of the OSE logo depending on the use context the color may vary.

Hi-Res Logo PNGs
- Pixel size: 2726 x 1646px
- File size: varies 110 - 194KB
NOTE: Although these files are relatively light weight (KB), in applications where loading speed is at a premium, it is recommended that the logo be re-sized to the match the intended viewing size further reducing the logo file size for optimum loading speed.

A couple of sample spreads for what is currently Chapter 3 "Crashcourses: from zero to maker"
NOTE: I have been considering whether this chapter should be included in each of the OSE Machine Manuals. So far there are three alternatives that I´m considering:
- 1. Keep these crash course summaries in each OSE Manual but maybe as an appendix.
- 2. Integrate specific a software crash course summary within another chapter, along side CAD diagrams for example.
- 3. Create an OSE manual that deals specifically with all the software used by OSE members, a type of master software guide.

- 1 TOC (see NOTE below)
- 1 Preface (intro to the OSE GVCS)

- 93 pages
The document is in letter size format (8.5 x 11 inches = 215.9 x 279.4 cm)
NOTE: The TOC (table of contents is still being developed)

Going through the template to adjust typeface sizes:
- Section title = 12pt Arial
- Headings = 14pt Arvo
- Body text = 11pt Arial
- Tables and lists = 12pt Arial
- Image captions = 10pt Arial
- Page numbers = 10pt Arial
- Foot notes = 8pt Arial
also making sure that the opposing pages are in the correct order
NOTE: The rectangles in the bottom right (yellow) or bottom left (blue) corners of the pages are a quick way to determine if the page being viewed is a left side (blue) or right side (yellow) page for full spread configurations and in print.

I did a compatibility test with google docs presentation PDF seeing how illustrator would handle this file type. Illustrator only allows individual pages to be opened at a time, but the content is editable. Not sure in which situation this might be useful for though. Continued adjusting the layouts of simulated content and added subsection content lists to section dividers and added some sample content.
NOTE: I ran the same test, opening a PDF document created from a google docs presentation, but using Inkscape. As with illustrator, Inkscape allows single pages to be opened and all the contents appear to be editable. Again, not sure how this might help, but it´s worth keeping in mind for future use. I wonder if an inkscape PDF when uploaded to google docs still remains editable? (April 5, 2014)
