OSE Part Naming Convention
Introduction
This is not finalized, but is a proposed version.
Because OSE works openly and collaborates with many people across the world, out part numbering systems needs to be simple enough for anyone to understand. There are two main components:
- Product
- Place in Assembly
- (Optional additional info)
This configuration allows for modular and scalable naming. It also treats subassemblies and part numbers as the same thing, which is the way our current CAD system thinks as well.
Example for a part in MicroTractor, Subassembly 1, part 1
MT-1-1
Example for a part in 3D Printer, Subassembly 2, Subassembly 3, part 4
