Open Source Plastic Bottle Peeler
From Open Source Ecology
Basics
- An alternatice to the Precious Plastic Shredder that works with bottles, or hollow containers, and shears/scissors
- The user:
- Places the container on the verticle rod of the Peeling Module , lining the bottom edge with the v slit before the angled blade
- They then either use a Rotator Module , or just manually do it (most likely option), and spin it
- This produces a ~0.5-1cm plastic "peel"
- This can be used as is, or be cut into small squares/flakes, resulting in a similar product to that of the shredder
- If the manual version is chosen, this can all be done with no power, and little setup cost
- The peel can also be made into a rope (not sure on quality) which should be easier to work with than natural fiber rope if none other is available (melt frayed ends, instead of havving to cut/manually splice them ( User:Eric does small boat sailing, plastic rope is a modern miracle...), also may be easier to mass produce small scale (only need plastic bottles, not long natural/semi-synthetic fibers)
