We started from a raw, 30 acre parcel - a former soybean field. We operate off-grid except for the internet. We are currently stabilizing housing, water, power, and internet infrastructures - as part of our bootstrapping, dogfooding enterprise approach.

As of Sep. 4, 2012:

We are finishing up the last 3 rooms of HabLab to accommodate 9 people. We are planning 2 OSE Microhouse prototypes to be built by the end of this year as individual studios for housing. We are installing a winter stove and expanding our kitchen, as well as winterizing the house.

We have stabilized our workshop power infrastructure to include 29 kW of inverter power and 28 kW of generator power. We have just dug a well and are diggig a 3/4 acre pond for agriculture watering, and we are currently trenching water lines.

We are stabilizing our internet infrastructure of two 4MB internet lines, where we are currently resolving connection speed issues.
