Carbon graphite rings have self lubricating properties and very little friction when coming in contact with metal. If we are planning on using wet steam then the water will also provide lubricating properties. In the case, you choose to use superheated dry steam then the graphite rings will work for that application as well. The goal is to eliminate oil. This will prevent the water tubes and condenser from getting clogged.
