I'll ask that Biology / Synbio group i know, but i assume this is like how crops like "well draining soil" etc, and how varieties vary on that, do i would think there may be gene mods for enhancing performance of crops in Soil-Free Agriculture , i don't know.
I think that video on Plant Factories also mentioned this, but that was more theoretical and also was moreso related to stem height, and time to harvest
Also root length causing clogging of systems is an issue, so perhaps short roots could be another additional gene mod.
