Talk:DMX LED Tape Drivers

We should calculate the power consumption. For the 4 Channel t says each channel is 4a, times 4 channels, at either 12 or 24v. I use one AC 120v to 12v 4a adapter for each

Assuming all 5 channels are running full brightness, this is

4*12=48 wats per channel

48*5=240w

So Power Consumption is anywhere from 48-240w + (Transformer Waste (AC to DC) + Power for Driver Functions + Power for Control Computer/Board (If Any) )

A 100w Equivalent LED Screw Mount (Like for a Lamp) Bulb consumes ~13W According to this one on Home Depot's Web Site Here

According to this website, the average USA Living room needs ~5,000 Lumens or ~5 100W /100W Equivalent Bulbs

13*5=65w

SO...

A Living Room Lit using only white LEDs uses:

500w For Incandescent Bulbs

65w For LED Bulbs

or

48w For an LED Strip using 1 Color Channel (Such as White), and this assumes ALL mof the power supplied by the driver is used

Thus LED Strips CAN be more efficient to light a room (+ pretty colors :) )

Feel free to check my math, as this isn't backed up by any testing or anything. A kill-a-watt may be useful to do some real world testing
