Talk:Material Handling Ergonomics
I'll Definitely want to get this stuff all finished out sometime.
That video with the rope+wood jig is really nifty! There was some "as seen on TV" thing which actually seemed quite decent a while back for Moving Furniture / similarly bulky things a while back. I'll have to grab the name and make a page on it ( / the broader category of device that product fit into), but it essentially was strapps that would allow two people to hold it securly and lift with their legs. It was mainly strap based and would go under the table/chair if i remember correctly.
On a more construction material handling aspect, i saw a video on them a while back, but there are these battery powered suction grabber handle-things (DEFINETLY need to find the proper name for that lol) where one would place in on a flat surface on a sheet of plywood / Foamboard / Sheet Metal and it would give you a "handle" by drawing a partial vacuum under the cup. Granted grabbing the edge works often, but having that "handle" in the middle seems really useful for getting a better grip on things, if caryyinh by yourself or odd situations etc. I'll grab the information later, but the people covering it at least seemed quite happy with it. For Glass, standard Suction Cup Tools / Suction Cups are quite common.
Another thing that are of use (i haven't seen them in person yet or asked about + researched them yet, so can't quite speak to their utility, but for CMUs / Bricks and so on Blockmasons / Brickmasons use these "Clamps" / tongs of sorts to easily handle them. Might be niche i honestly need to look into these more, but just added it here as a reminder ( Document Everything and whatnot)
In terms of bulk materials, at least in my opinion, using smaller bags and doing more trips is better than bags, Cement is notorious for being horribly large bag wise. This especially is probably behind Construction Related Long Term Health Issues . I hope my generation can be the first to not get all that.
FINALLY i'll mention Work Cells
They are typically used in proper manufacturing moreso, but setting up some sort of temporary one on-jobsite, or using similar principles/jigs for Truck Unloading may be of use. Basically Conveyor Belts / Roller Conveyors are used to lead the thing being assembled along various stations with ease, and all their tools and parts are all ergonomically laid out etc.
That's my thoughts of what all can fit in this category / my thoughts in general on all this for now.
