Talk:Thermal Shield
I vaguely remember someone having something like this in my welding program, that and there are Reflective Welding Gloves / Metalized Welding Gloves which help with heat a bit (although that coating "burned off" at least on the model of gloves one person tried, i just used the provided leather ones until they were moderately charred lol).
The one concern i want to look into is Electrical Risks. Granted a certain amount of risk is inherent to Electric Arc Welding and the usual Cord Inspection and so on is sufficient, but there always is that thought in the back of my head of like "yeah if this insulation; you're toast, in both senses of the word", but this is probably fine, i just want to check that ( Failure Mode Analysis and whatnot)
ALSO they mainly used them for GTAW ( TIG Welding ), but there were these fiberglass pads, called "TIG Fingers" i think? Were especially useful given TIG Welding Gloves are more thin, so you can start feeling your hand heat up way quicker
