Talk:ZA vs Aluminum

One thing to note about Zinc Aluminum Alloys would be the potential for Zinc Pest long term (although some alloys may delay/eliminate this risk), and any time you are welding/melting you have Zinc Emissions / Risk of Metal Fume Fever etc to deal with, so that is a bit nastier (not that Welding is ever something to NOT be careful about, but mild steel, but MIG or ESPECIALLY TIG, on “clean” aluminum is a much more “clean” process)

Also in terms of Recyclability, does Zinc Contamination/Alloy Elements complicate the “melt down and reuse” loop?

Granted to an extent AlloyCom / MaterialCom could help with that

  • Ie Laser Engrave or have a relief in the mold such that parts have an indicator of what specific alloy they are on the part itself
