XLR
(Redirected from XLR Ports)
Basics
- An electronic connection standard, in similar widespread use to USB , 12v Barrel Jacks , and MIDI
- Is often lockable, and enviroment hardened
- Available in:
- Two-Pin
- Three-Pin (Most common)
- Four-Pin
- Six, and Seven Pin are less common, but DO exist if need be
- "Bundled" cables are available for large amounts of cables ( Cable Managment is the only advantage
- With these, you use either a "frayed/split off" end, or some short cables to connect the bundle to your devices, and use the solid bundle as the long distance element
- These (outside of power applications) are largely replaced by ArtNet and similar protocols (These use standard lan so it can be as simple as into the box, then a single ethernet, or even a wifi connection
- With these, you use either a "frayed/split off" end, or some short cables to connect the bundle to your devices, and use the solid bundle as the long distance element
Sourcing
Two Pin
- Seem quite rare, and a 3 pin xlr could work fine, just would need other pcb side wiring (don't use 1 pin)
- MAY be cheaper for cable though due to less total copper etc
- Two Pin Socket Source ~2.00 USD Each, comes in packs of 5 or 10) not pcb, but could work with 3d printed case
