Basics

• A Liquid Hydrocarbon used mainly as a Liquid Fuel in Spark Ignition Internal Combustion Engines
• Most often derived from Fossil Fuels
  • Usually Crude Oil
  • It can be derived from other fossil fuels via a Coal-to-Liquids / Gas-to-Liquids approach etc
    • These same methods can be used with Biomass , or Hydrogen / Methane / Syngas from sustainable sources
• Also most gasoline contains Gasoline Additives to modify Octane Rating as well as various other properties
